Featuring Sharon Adams (Episode No.16)
Sharon Adams Biog 2020
Sharon Adams is an applied artist based in rural Northern Ireland. Working with themes such as place, memory and connection to the land, her practice is personal, and deeply rooted in the landscape of her farming childhood. She works mostly in wood, metal and textiles, creating drawings and sculptural works which respond to the landscape surrounding her home/studio at Frocess Yard.
Adams completed a BA (Materials Practice) at the University of Brighton in 2011 and has exhibited in a number of group exhibitions in the UK and Ireland. Her solo shows Intersection (2018) and Horizon (2020) presented larger scale works. She has been supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Design and Crafts Council of Ireland and with a Jerwood Bursary, and works are held in both public and private collections.
Oonagh McAteer and Zara Lyness, Buoy Park Art is a podcast full of chat about art and artists in Northern Ireland and beyond. Meeting on the Fine Art Master’s Course in Ulster University, Oonagh (BA Photography) and Zara (BA Fine Art) started the podcast as a relaxed platform to encourage inclusive discussions about art and artists and to extend a support network to independent and rural artists at all career stages. The podcasts include invited guests talking about their work and interests and introducing different topics each week, along with the ups and downs of the life or an emerging artist.
